Arnold (Doctor Who)
Real Name:
Search for 'Arnold (Doctor Who)' on Amazon

Bio:
Arnold was in political orbit of Oswald, the child leader of Earth at the turn of the 32d century. While on a mission for the Time Lords to this future Earth, the Third Doctor befriended Arnold and invited him to travel in the TARDIS. Though Oswald also joined the pair initially, he was never seen again after the initial story, "Children of the Evil Eye".

Arnold, by contrast, hung around for a few more stories.

Notes:
Arnold's final story was "The Amateur". Ordinarily this wouldn't be particularly noteworthy, but "The Amateur" was one of those Third Doctor stories which got redrawn as a Fourth Doctor story. In the second telling, Arnold was completely excised. This was relatively straightforward, in that Arnold only appeared in the first few panels of the original version; the Third Doctor is seen to drop off the kid before going on to the bulk of the story.

However those trying to keep track of the Doctor's adventures in a canonical way will doubtless have some difficulty with this. If the Third Doctor began the events of "The Amateur" dropping off Arnold in the 32d century, where was the Fourth Doctor coming from when he "relived" the events of "The Amateur"?
