Manimator can mentally control the space wax he uses to fashion life-like wax statues of humans. Somehow, this wax can cause these forms to take on the actual powers of those it is shaped to resemble.
Laurent Levessaur wished for a way to end his country's idolization of United States superheroes, and got his wish when a ball of "space wax" fell into his backyard. He fashioned the wax into several of America's most well-known heroes and placed them in a wax museum.
Now dubbed the Manimator, Levessaur watched in disgust as Alpha Flight members Major Mapleleaf and Puck visited his museum. No sooner did they leave than the Manimator put his master plan into motion, sending the wax replicas on a rampage through the streets of Montreal.
Outmatched, Mapleleaf sent his super-powered horse Thunder to retrieve the other Alpha Flight members. As the team battled the fake heroes, Puck realized someone nearby must have been controlling them, and noticed Manimator as the only human not running for their life (and also muttering "fools!" under his breath). She confronted him and knocked him out with one punch, causing his wax statues to return to immobile form.
