After the death of his father young Matthew Atherton turned to Super Heroes and video games to find role models. Adept at fixing electronics, Matthew opened a computer repair shop as an adult. He was tricked by Ironside, a terrorist leader, into helping perfect a car that Ironside intended to use to destroy the city. Left for dead after being struck by lightning, Matthew found he had developed unique abilities and set out to correct the mistake he made.

Matthew "Feedback" Atherton is the winner of the 2006 "Who Wants to be a Superhero?" reality game show on the Sci-Fi Channel. Chosen by Stan Lee, the prize included a Dark Horse comic written by Stan, and a Sci-Fi Original Movie based on the Feedback character. The character of Feedback was created by Matthew Atherton and his wife, Sarah Blevins.
