Keeper of the Flame (01 - Lann)
Real Name: Lann
Search for 'Keeper of the Flame (01 - Lann)' on Amazon

Powers:
Tended to the Sacred Flame, a source of great power.
Access to high technology, including rays that sapped physical strength and caused massive destruction.

Bio:
The city of el Dorado was a colony of ancient Incans, still alive in modern times. Having passed through caverns built by the Deviants, they found the city, and the Sacred Flame, a source of cobalt energy. The Keeper of the Flame was the highest position in the religious cult that arose around the flame.

Lann, in his role as Keeper, sought to extend his power over the city, ousting the current secular ruler, Prince Rey, and increasing the strength of the Flames in order to attack the outside world. His plan was foiled by Goliath (Hank Pym), who extinguished the flames.

Later, at the urging of Tyrannus (in disguise at the time), Lann would join forces again with Rey to re-create the flames. In battle with the Hulk, Lann and Rey were both sacrificed to the flames by a treacherous Tyrannus, and the flames would be expelled into space for good, destroying the city.

Notes:
The next Keeper of the Flame (02 - Eurasia) followed a different, much more hateful code. In addition, the latter's flame was not the original sacred cobalt fire, but simply the furnaces used in his attempt to exterminate the Moloids.
