La Bandera
Real Name:
Search for 'La Bandera' on Amazon

La Bandera possessed the mutant ability to inspire others to her cause, then to draw on the faith that others had in her to send strong power blasts through a staff that she carried. As faith in her diminished, she had less power to fire her blasts, and as she focused on her blasts, her power to inspire faith in others diminished, the two powers seemingly working against each other even as they complemented each other. The extent of la Bandera's powers is unknown.

La Bandera was a young mutant with the power to influence groups of people to do whatever she wills. Additionally, La Bandera could fire energy blasts from her staff, the potency of which was determined by the number of people she was "inspiring" at the time.

Wolverine encountered La Bandera in South America whilst he was tracking the Nazi war criminal Geist, and encouraged her and her people to revolt against Geist's oppression.

La Bandera was later reportedly slain by the killer of superhumans known as Zeitgeist.

She has a brief appearance at the end of What If vol 2 #47 What if Magneto took over the US (part 2 of 2). After the mutant resistance is crushed, she is recruited from a concentration camp by Wolverine to form the new X-Men.
