Wotan (DC)
Real Name:
Search for 'Wotan (DC)' on Amazon

Uses a combination of medieval magic and advanced technology, giving him a power-set equivalent, but possibly superior, to Doctor Fate's.

In the times of prehistory, a cavewoman was brutally attacked by cavemen. Barely surviving, she stumbled upon an ancient female shaman. The shaman spent years training her before dying, and being consumed by the cavewoman.
Eventually, the cavewoman learned the secrets of life-extension and soul-transference, enabling her to assume thousands of forms of both male and female and multiple races over the centuries before finally assuming her/his current identity of Wotan.

Not to be confused with the many other Wotans out there, including the German god of War, the Norse god (Odin), or the mid-sixties super-computer that threatened to take over London (Doctor Who).

Though still present in the post-Crisis DCU, his importance as Dr. Fate's nemesis has perhaps been overshadowed in the 21st century by Mordru.
