Husk (Marvel)
Real Name: Paige Elisabeth Guthrie
Search for 'Husk (Marvel)' on Amazon

Powers:
Husk can generate a new skin beneath her current form. Upon tearing away her first skin, she is endowed with new powers, whether that be strength, speed, endurance, etc.

As part of her secondary mutation, when Paige "husks out", she blacks out and her personality changes with her body.

Weaknesses:
Paige considers herself an overachiever and it can be damaging to her mentality. She went so far as to erase her Kentucky accent.

Husk cannot change form too much or too quickly without painful sting.

Bio:
After her older brother Sam's mutant powers manifested and he joined the New Mutants, Paige tried many things to discover whether she was also a mutant, but became frustrated after many failures. Venting her anger, Paige finally found that her power was to shed her skin. She kept her nature secret until the day Sam and his X-Force teammate Boomer visited the farm. They were abducted by the Fenris twins as part of the "Younghunt," a contest involving the capture of young mutants. X-Force teamed up with the New Warriors, whose member Firestar had also been captured, and together they opposed the organizer of the contest, the Gamesmaster. Paige secretly followed them and confronted the Gamesmaster, defeating him in a game of wits.

Soon after, Paige was kidnapped by the techno-organic alien Phalanx, who sought to learn how to assimilate mutants into their collective. Paige and her fellow abductees were rescued by an ad-hoc X-Men team, and subsequently became founding members of Generation X, a team of mutants enrolled at the new Massachusetts branch of Xavier's School. During her time there, Paige studied to become a better X-Man than Sam. She also romanced her teammate Chamber. After the School was closed, Paige was recruited by her former headmaster Banshee into his paramilitary X-Corps. After that group was dismantled, Paige went to study at the reestablished Xavier Institute. Her interest in environmental issues led to her discovering corruption within Worthington Enterprises, the company owned by the X-Man Archangel. Investigating, she and Archangel encountered the Dominant Species, and she was almost killed. Archangel saved her with his healing ability, after which they became romantically involved.
Having finally graduated to the ranks of the X-Men, Paige later aided Archangel in establishing the global mutant outreach program "Mutantes Sans Frontieres," which she still heads. Setting up office in Zanzibar, they became involved in an attempt by the Hellfire Club to destabilize the country by employing the mercenary Weaponeers. Alongside the country's President, who was secretly the superhero Askari, as well as reinforcements from Genosha, the heroes managed to repel the invaders.

After M-Day, Husk had moved back to the mansion, seen assisting young mutants in the infirmary. After her brother Icarus died, she seemed to take a sabbatical and live at home in Kentucky for a while. Husk then moved with the X-Men to Utopia. Once there she fought the Skrulls and Osborn's Avengers. In Utopia, Husk was a great asset in fighting vampires, since she was the only resident made of wood. In searching for Jubilee, she proved dangerous, taking out a group of vampires in order to find her best friend.

During the Necrosha crossover, Husk was on Nightcrawler's team in traveling to Muir Island on Blindfold's riddle. She proved her ability to reason and gather thorough evidence. Husk was one of the few remaining X-Men to be possessed by Proteus, who then used her body to husk into a molten magma form, which had previously been unseen.

During Age of X, the Guthrie family was killed, save for Husk and Cannonball, in an attempt to eradicate all traces of the mutant gene. Upon discovering the bodies of her family, Paige decided to take action on her vengeance. She vowed to never return to her flesh form until her brother wept for their family. She, then, murdered her abductors and her family's killers. According to Cannonball's Age of X files, Husk led a group of rebel mutants in killing humans and organizations who hunted down mutants. She was later shown in her flesh form, having made up with her brother and disbanding her rebel group.

In recent events of Schism, Husk and Cannonball decided to go to New York with Wolverine, hoping a change of environment might help them, he with his mental problems and she with her molting problems. It was unseen prior to X-Men: Regenesis #1, but Husk has been unable to control her husking, leaving skin flakes everywhere she went. In moving to Westchester to rebuild the school (now named the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning), Paige has become a junior professor, teaching mutant art and mutant literature. During her time there, she became romanticallly involved with Toad. With increasingly erratic behavior and inability to properly control her powers, she has left the school before Kitty Pryde could fire her.

After leaving the school, Paige found herself at the Hellfire Academy as part of the staff. She infiltrated the school and recruited Idie, Quentin Quire, and Glob Herman as students. She also recruited Toad as a staff member, reuniting with her love. In leading the All-New Hellions, she fended off Toad and the X-Men. As Husk beat Toad to a big ball of bruises, he ripped her layers of skin off, exceeding her husking threshold. In doing this, her insanity left her, as did her memory of her time since she first got to the Jean Grey School, including her relationship with Toad. Though she did not recall her time with Mortimer, she decided to give him a chance and meet him for coffee. He stood her up as he went back into villainy, which was what people expected of him.

According to Beast, Paige has developed a secondary mutation, in which her personality changes with her husked forms, and she blacks out during that time. To help alleviate the symptoms when she husks, Paige is currently taking courses at Empire State to further understand psychology, presumably. In addition, she is using her recently changed powers as a basis for her new position as guidance counselor at the Jean Grey School.

Notes:
It was assumed that Husk and Angel have broken up after Excalibur, though it was never stated on-panel. Their awkward encounter during Secret Invasion led us to believe that they haven't talked in a while.
