Bailey Briggs worked for Hammer Aeronautics, an aircraft manufacturing plant in Upstate New York. Briggs' life work was put into a prototype for the company, and even though it was costing the company millions of dollars everytime he delayed the delivery date, Briggs kept pushing back until he was sure it was perfect.

Fed up with the delays, Maxwell Newton, his boss, murdered Bailey while he was testing parts of his plane in the wind tunnel.

Roaming the human plane in turmoil, Briggs wasn't able to move on until his murder had been solved, or so he claimed.

After Newton was accused of the murder, Briggs' spirit came forth to clear Newton and point the finger at his ex-girlfriend, Angie Cryer. In a a gesture of misguided love, Briggs didn't want to move onto the next plane until he and Cryer could be together in the afterlife.

All aspects of the case were solved by Mallory Book and Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk). Cryer's name was cleared, Briggs' was placed in an afterlife holding cell by Dr. Strange after he tried to murder Walters and Book while they were investigating the case, and Newton was told by Doctor Strange that he would have a coronary in three days time because the stress of knowing he was heading for eternal torment was too much for him.
