Bio:
Joaquin is the son of J.C. Pennysworth, a man who disguised himself as white to lead The Sons of the Serpent in order to achieve and obtain his wants and goals in life.

Ashamed of his father, Joaquin wanted to dedicate his life to setting things right, and was sponsored for membership into S.H.I.E.L.D. by Kyle Richmond (Nighthawk), who at one time employed Joaquin's father as his financial advisor.

During a covert operation, Joaquin and two other agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were to infiltrate a base of The Sons of the Serpent in order to destroy a device known as a Mad Bomb. The Mad Bomb would use sonics to alter people's moods and temperments and would eventually drive the country to war. The team was discovered, and only Joaquin was left alive, although greatly injured.

After being questioned, Joaquin managed to escape, and plant bombs through-out the base. Nighthawk and She-Hulk were able to locate the base and found Joaquin. The three managed to round up the remaining Serpent members at the base, and much to Nighthawk's horror, Joaquin gunned them down before setting off his explosives. Nighthawk was able to fly them free just in time.

After recovering from his injuries, Joaquin was found by Richmond training at a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. Richmond was able to convince Joaquin to quit his job and to take up the mantle of Nighthawk. Richmond then purchased the former headquarters of The Defenders, and gathered together the new group of heroes that would continue on the name of The Defenders. Pennysworth, now as Nighthawk, She-Hulk, Son of Satan and Krang.
