Powers: Near limitless fusion-casting powers derived from the stars, provided by the alien entity/god Merk. Powers include flight, strength, endurance, force field generation, energy blasts, limited telepathy and molecular manipulation.
Nexus also has a tank which has shown to have rejuvinative properties for himself and others, though results have been more unpredictable when others use the tank.
The Merk has also provided Nexus with a spaceship to aid him in his duties. The ship has been damaged or destroyed numerous times and it reappears with out a scratch(obviously the Merk reconstitutes it).
Weaknesses: To motivate Nexus, the Merk induces nightmares of is next target, which increase in intensity the longer Horatio resists. Nexus also needs to sleep in a special tank filled with what appears to be the Merk's blood.
Also, the further Nexus travels from Ylum, it seems, the weaker his powers are.
Bio: Horatio has been charged by the alien entity Merk to seek out and execute mass murderers across the galaxy.
Horatio's father was an infamous general who committed genocide when his rule over a Sov satellite planet faltered. The family fled to the seemingly abandoned planet Ylum. It was there that the alien Merk contacted young Horatio and revealed his father's crimes via nightmares. Sometime after Horatio's mom died mysteriously, Horatio executed his father.
Horatio still lives on Ylum, but it is no longer abandoned. Seen as a saviour to some, Ylum is now populated by outcasts and refugees from the many civilizations that Nexus has interacted with.
Many years later, the Merk was finally revealed to be insane, and not the last of his kind. A saner member of his kind came forward and opted to continue to sponsor Horatio as Nexus without the painful incentives employed by the Merk.
