Kir Kanos

Some Dark Side training; special talent with the Force Pike--the most deadly personal Force weapon short of a lightsaber. Master of the Echani fighting style.

The effective "star" of the Star Wars: Crimson Empire series from Dark Horse, Kir Kanos was the most loyal of all the Royal Imperial Guards. Palpatine's apparent death at Endor dealt him a severe psychological blow, but he remained committed to the dead Emperor's goals.

In the absence of both the Emperor and his apprentice, he exercised an unusual degree of influence on political events--something he never would have done in the pre-Endor Empire.

He became a kind of de facto Darth Vader, and was probably the highest-order Dark Side Force user around until the arrival of the Palpatine clone.

When the last of the cloned Palpatines died--and at the hands of Connor Jax, a fellow Royal Guardsman--his place in the Empire was less secure. Now on the losing side of the internal political struggle for the Imperial Council, he became a victim of a Dark Side purge that weakly echoed the Great Jedi Purge of three decades past. In the end, the Jax-led forces had killed all the Royal Guardsmen except for Kanos.

Outnumbered, and completely without an infrastructure behind him, Kanos had little choice but to go underground. He became a bounty hunter named Kenix Kil, outlasted Connor Jax (who was having his own problems holding onto power), and waited until he could exact his revenge on the Imperial Council. He never resurfaced as Kir Kanos again.
