Bio:
Gilles de Montmorency-Laval, baron de Rais (1404–1440) was a Breton knight, a leader in the French army and a companion-in-arms of Joan of Arc. He is best known as a prolific serial killer of children. There is significant controversy over his guilt; some maintain he was framed for political reasons

Notes:
In the DC/Vertigo Universe, Gilles de Rais is effectively immortal as long as he consumes the life-force of children through occult means. He used the aliases Count of St. Germain and Francisco Marquies de Marquez. He was eventually defeated by Mad Hettie, using the Deadboy Detectives.
