Charlotte Blackwood

Powers:
A dose of LSD unleashes her nascent extra-sensory perception.

Bio:
Charlotte Blackwood was sent to New York University as a pre-med student in the early 1960s. After getting involved with hippies, alcohol, and marijuana and shacking up with her boyfriend, she is persuaded to try LSD.

After this, she finds herself unable to eat. Everything she tastes gives her an entire history of its background, making eating plants uncomfortable and animals unbearable. After five days without eating, she visits Madame Xanadu, whose scrying reveals that Charlotte is to be her first apprentice.

Charlotte thinks this is insane and possibly a sexual advance, but after a kiss from her boyfriend proves that he has slept with their friend, she decides to return to Madame Xanadu.

Madame Xanadu uses some magic to reduce the taste effect on her, and Charlotte is able to scrye a better future for Betty Reynolds, her possession by Morgaine LeFay causing her to hit Xanadu's blindspot. Charlotte drops out of NYU and becomes Xanadu's apprentice.

The apprenticeship presumably did not last long, as Madame Xanadu is once again solitary by her first (publication-wise) appearance in the late 1970s. Presumably Charlotte graduated and set up her own practice.
