Swamp Thing (01 - Alex Olsen) Real Name: Alexander Olsen Search for 'Swamp Thing (01 - Alex Olsen)' on eBay Bio: Scientist Alex Olsen became Swamp Thing in 1905 when he was betrayed by his friend, Damian Ridge, killed and thrown into the swamp over a rivalry with the same woman. When he realized his appearance did nothing but frighten her, unable to speak as he was, he wandered into the swamp. Eventually he was accepted as a nature spirit by the locals, who called him "Le Bon Gumbo," and some even by his human name, as well. In 1937, he retired to the Parliament of Trees in Brazil, and eventually, nature found a new elemental in German pilot Albert Höllerer. Swamp Thing Alec Holland, three Swamp Things later, encountered him guarding the way to the Parliament of Trees, now the only member of the Parliament able to speak in voice as well as by mind.
