Bloodbugs (various)

Search for 'Bloodbugs (various)' on Amazon

Flesh-eating, cybernetic "barbara". In large numbers they will easily consume a person.

Susceptible to unusually high levels of adrenaline. If a person wills himself to have an outpouring of emotion, the devices will, in effect, die.

Cybernetic devices that feed on the flesh of those with no emotion. They were invented by the rebel group Big Hate, in their pursuit of a society that had returned to a natural emotional state. Their intent was that the Bloodbugs should attack only moderators. However, the Bloodbugs swarmed into the general population. Since this population was also emotionless, the Bloodbugs feasted on the flesh of these innocents as well. They were eventually defeated when the "emotional ban" was lifted on the planet.

The Bloodbugs, and Big Hate, did in fact secure their goal. They forced a crisis on the planet which directly resulted in the destruction of the Brains Trust and the return of emotion. However, they did so at the cost of many innocent lives.
