Iella Wessiri(-Antilles)

With the coming of Kirtan Loor as head of CorSec, Corellian Iella Wesseri faced a dangerous choice. Should she continue taking orders from the new Imperial leader of her organization, or should she seek to overthrow the Imperial influence on her homeworld. True to the Corellian tradition of "middle path" politics, she chose to keep wearing the uniform but secretly spy for the Rebellion.

In these efforts she was aided by her partner, a young, pre-Jedi Corran Horn. She and Horn often partnered with Rogue Squadron, and indeed provided key information that directly led to the Republic being restored on Coruscant. These efforts brought both Horn and Wessiri into close personal relationships with the members of Rogue Squadron.

One of her signature storylines involved her escape from Kirtan Loor. When she, Horn and fellow investigator Gil Bastra fled Corellia, Loor pursued. Bastra split off from Horn and Wessiri in order to delay Loor's search. Bastra died, but his death provided enough time for Loor's plans for usurping Isard to fail. Now desperate to preserve his own life, Loor was forced to turn himself in to Horn and Wessiri. The deal was sanctuary in the New Republic for information against the Empire.

As they were taking their former boss in for questioning by the Republic, they were besieged by an Imperial assassin, who promptly shot Loor. At the same moment, Iella shot the assassin. As he died, it was revealed that the assassin was actually her husband, Diric Wessiri, who had been brainwashed by the government of Imperial leader, Ysanne Isard. As he lay dying, he thanked his wife for finally releasing him from Isard's control.

The deaths, though tragic, bore fruit. Though Loor's testimony against the Empire would now be impossible, he had in his possession a data card which revealed the location of every Imperial still remaining on Coruscant. The Republic used this information to swiftly pacify the capitol planet. Diric's abuse by the Imperials fueled a desire for justice within Iella that eventually led to her being the one who fatally shot Ysanne Isard.

More happily, it also cleared the way for Iella to re-marry. She and Wedge Antilles had grown quite close on their several missions together, and they tied the knot (and had two kids, Syal and Myri) well before Luke and Mara's wedding.

They were retired before the Yuuzhan Vong War, but came out of retirement to serve again until the Liberation of Coruscant, whereupon they again retired to Coronet, capitol city of Corellia.
