Jakeem Thunder
Real Name: Jakeem Johnny Williams
Search for 'Jakeem Thunder' on Amazon

Powers:
Like Johnny Thunder (I), his powers depend upon being able to summon a Thunderbolt, and then specifically requesting help from that Thunderbolt in a precise manner. However, he controls two Thunderbolts that have been merged into one. The first Thunderbolt is the one that Johnny Thunder (I) controlled. The second is an evil Thunderbolt that, with Captain Marvel's help, he subdued by merging with the "original".

The major consequence of this "merging" seems to be that the word to summon the Thunderbolt is different for Jakeem than it was for Johnny. Jakeem calls on the Thunderbolt by saying zkl, which is pronounced like the English words, "so cool".

Bio:
Heir to the legacy of Johnny Thunder (I), Jakeem Thunder calls upon the same Thunderbolt that assisted his elder. If Johnny's weakness was, frankly, his stupidity, Jakeem's is probably his impulsive and somewhat moody nature, which often sees him prone to either rash judgment or plain inactivity. It also expresses itself through his frequently foul mouth.

He's often cast as a somewhat reluctant and unsure bearer of the mantle. His history in the current JSA could best be described as a "coming of age" story. His journey is often used as an echo of that of Stargirl and, to an extent, Power Girl and Hawkgirl.

Frequently, he is seen as the "most junior" member of the team, something he deeply resents. He especially hates it when Stargirl treats him as her junior--possibly owing to the fact that there might be romantic tension between the two, but most probably because she's simply not that much older than him.

As he hails from Keystone City, he has perhaps the strongest extra-JSA relationships with members of the Flash family, most particularly Bart Allen (Kid Flash/Impulse). This is an historically appropriate detail, as Johnny Thunder (I) was introduced in the pages of Flash Comics, and long served as the most regular backup feature there.
