Commander Rootrock

Bio:
Rootrock was the classic definition of "a man in the middle". Leader of the Nosaurian army on New Plympto in the waning days of the Clone Wars, he entered into an alliance with Jedi Master Dess Jennir after Order 66. Jennir agreed to fight alongside the Nosaurians against the newly formed Galactic Empire, in exchange for finally getting to fight for a noble cause.

It was a cause that would be all-too brief—and all-too fatal—for him. He died in the first engagement the Nosaurians launched against the Empire. Nevertheless, his sacrifice probably did allow civilians to escape the planet, and the slavery that would have been their lot in life had they stayed.

In a palpable sense, Rootrock was the first Rebel field commander. Although his death occurred years before the Alliance was formally created, his was the first documented case of local resistance against explicitly Imperial troops.

He also holds the distinction of being the first local military commander to knowingly employ a Jedi in the wake of Order 66 and the ensuing anti-Jedi propaganda.
