Powers: Rukia is skilled with a number of kidou spells.
Rukia's zanpakutou is Sode no Shirayuki, which is regarded as the most beautiful of the snow and ice swords. Rukia releases her sword with the command "Dance." Rukia has invoked the following powers (dances) from her released sword:
White Moon - Rukia makes a circle around her target, and everything within the circle is frozen in a pillar of ice.
White Ripple - Releases a wave of ice from her sword's blade.
Bio: Rukia arrived in Soul Society with her older sister, Hisana. However, Hisana could not handle the responsibility of looking after her younger sister and fled. Rukia then grew up on the streets where she met and befriended Renji Abarai.
Upon entering the shinigami academy, Rukia was adopted into the Kuchiki family. It's later revealed that Hisana had married Byakuya Kuchiki and had passed away a year prior to Rukia's enrollment. Hisana's dying wish was for Byakuya to find and adopt Rukia, but not let Rukia know about her relation to Hisana.
After graduating from the shinigami academy, Rukia was placed in the 13th division of Gotei 13. There Rukia trained under Kaien Shiba. While on a mission together, Kaien was possessed by a hollow and Rukia was forced to kill him. Although Kaien forgave her as he died, Rukia could not forgive herself. Overwhelmed by guilt, she could only tell Kaien's family that she had killed him.
Rukia was later assigned a tour of duty in the real world, protecting Karakura Town from hollows. After becoming injured, she transferred the bulk of her power into Ichigo Kurosaki, transforming him into a shinigami.
