Kyp Durron

Search for 'Kyp Durron' on Amazon

Kyp Durron was a Jedi who principally operated from about a year after the Battle of Endor until the New Jedi Order era, some 30 years afterwards.

He was an extremely powerful Jedi, among the mos powerful of his time. His first teacher in teh ways of the Force was Vima-Da-Boda, but his most famous was undoubtedly Luke Skywalker himself. Though not actually in Luke's very first "class" of students, he only narrowly missed that distinction.

He had a long and complicated history with the Force, including a time when he briefly fell to the Dark Side and believed himself the Dark Lord of the Sith. It was later revealed, however, that he had been inhabited by the spirit of Exar Kun, and thus was more easily "redeemed" than most fallen Light Siders.

As with all post-Return of the Jedi characters originating before the release of Revenge of the Sith, Durron's canonicity can be disputed.

Most of this character's life is not explored in comics. In fact, as of 2006, he had made only one appearance in a four-issue mini-series. BUt his importance to Star Wars novels of the mid-late 1990s is pretty vast, with few Expanded Universe characters having more memorable appearances.
