Werner was an uncover agent for I.C.O.N., a terrorist organization who planned to abduct and study Frankenstein's Monster for their use in creating a group of undead monster super soldiers.

As an undercover agent, he posed as a lab assistant and lover to Veronica Frankenstein, the last living descendant of Victor Frankenstein who had created Frankenstein's Monster. When the monster was brought to Veronica at her request so she could restore his voice, I.C.O.N. attacked her castle and sent in their android Berserker to abduct the monster. Frankenstein's Monster was able to deactivate the android initially, but then Werner received orders to restore the robot. He did so and then ran for a waiting helicopter as soon as possible as he was terrified to be found out. After the android left to pursue Frankenstein's Monster, Ralph Caccone, the monster's only friend, realized it was Werner who had reactivated the android and grabbed a machine gun in pursuit. As Werner was boarding the waiting I.C.O.N. helicopter, Ralph shot out the gas tank, causing the helicopter to explode, killing Werner.

Not the same Werner Schmidt as the Nazi Scientist code named Brain Drain.
