Bio:
Paul Douek was a student at the University of Cambridge in Massachusetts who reported to the Dean of the University that his Professor, Tavin Tierney, might have ideas that were too radical. The Dean ended up firing Tierney, who built a giant robot, Straggon, to destroy the University and take revenge on Paul. Cyclops, who had been on vacation at the time of the attack, was on hand to stop Tierney and Straggon. Paul thanked him and told him if he ever needed help that he could call on him for anything.

A decade later, a young Cable sought out Paul. Knowing that Cyclops would die a couple of years into the future, then momentarily be resurrected only to die again, Cable employed Paul to build a miniature version of the Phoenix Box. Technology the Avengers used to try and contain the Phoenix Force. He needed it altered however so that it would siphon off a small amount of the Phoenix's life force which they could then use to resurrect Cyclops.

Paul worked tirelessly for two years and was able to create the device. Cable transported himself and Paul to the morgue where Cyclops was after his first death from the Terrigen mist contact he had, and they implanted the device on his heart. When the Phoenix resurrected Cyclops briefly to try and tempt Jean Grey into staying with the Phoenix, the device did what it was supposed to do and siphoned off some of the Phoenix's life force, which they were then able to use to bring Cyclops back from the dead once again.

After thanking Cyclops again for saving his life all those years ago, Paul returned to his life, only to have Professor Tierney be released from prison and attack him again, still yearning for revenge all these years later. Cyclops once again saved Paul's life, and this time, Cyclops was able to thank Paul for saving HIS life.
