2007-07-10 21:04:27 Merrik Bio Bora was a ballerina, who's major growth spurt during her childhood quickly put an end to her promising career. Resentful, she sought to assassinate those who kept their abilities and would take them away from her homeland of Russia. So she came to the United States where she killed several women before being stopped by Moon Knight, who was crippled at the time and had to call in the help of The Fantastic Four and The X-Men. Later, her spirit was combined with that of The Painter and Spark to become the Avant Guard. It was during this time that Bora had enough power to blanket all of Manhattan in snow. She came up against Spider-Man, along with the Spark, and was able to temporarily defeat him by covering him in thick ice. Spider-Man escaped, and along with The Human Torch, confronted the Avant Guard. The two were able to defeat Bora and the Spark, but the Painter revived them with a swipe of his brush. However, when the fighting began anew, The Painter became bored and trapped Bora and Spark as fixed images on his canvas, before apparently exploding himself. Even though it appears that she remained in the painting, Bora was one of the many mutants who lost her powers on M-Day.
