2014-08-07 23:11:53 wolverinesgod Bio A member of the Norse pantheon, Loki is not an Asgardian god like most of the others, but rather the son of the Frost Giant, Laufey (although large by human standards, and average in stature among Asgardians, Loki is in fact a rather small giant). After Odin slew Laufey, he adopted Loki, and raised him as step-brother to his own son, Thor. While Loki excelled in the magical arts, he was never as physically gifted as Thor, nor as brave, and he grew very jealous of his more revered step-sibling. As time went on, Loki's jealousy grew to the extent that he continuously plotted against Thor, and made numerous attempts to use his cunning and his sorcery to take over Asgard itself. Although Odin eventually took action and imprisoned Loki in a tree, he was able to escape, and continue in his plots. Such schemes have often involved wreaking havoc on the Earth itself, one of which involved leading the Hulk to cause chaos, and led to the formation of the Avengers in response. Most recently, Loki appears to have perished, alongside all the other Asgardians, when Thor took action to end the cycle of life, cataclysmic Ragnarok, and rebirth that characterized the Norse gods' history up to that point. This led to the apparently final death of all the gods, with Thor going into a long, deep sleep in the afterlife. Recently, however, Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, has returned to Earth and Thor has followed suit. It remains to be seen whether Loki and the others will return as well. Became the Mistress of Strategies for the Angels of Heven and was returned to his female form in Original Sin #5.3.
