Thanagarian by birth, she was a member of that world's police force. Her first mission of substance was assisting Katar Hol in capturing the Rainbow Robbers. Subsequent to saving Katar's life on that mission, the couple fell in love and were married after a very brief courtship. They came to Earth thereafter, in search of criminal Byth Rok. They were immediately befriended by Midway City Police Commissioner, George Emmett, who established an identity of Shiera Hall for her to use after the mission against Rok was completed. She was the 13th unique member of the Justice League, admitted after the 12-member cap was lifted. Though her reason for staying on Earth was at first to study the police techniques of humans, she rather quickly became, with Katar, a co-director of the Midway City Museum. Eventually, she was forced to virtually sever ties with Thanagar when she, like Hawkman of Earth-1, opposed a Thanagarian invasion of Earth.
