He is accompanied by the wolf-dog hybrid Cerberus. None. Chase was a highly accomplished detective and fighter. He relied on the use of his weapon, a sawed-off shotgun, and for protection wore a bulletproof vest. He was accompanied everywhere he went by his wolf-dog hybrid Cerberus.
2008-12-10 02:02:38 Merrik Bio O.Z. Chase attended reform school as a youth and received his rarely cooperative companion, the cigar-eating dog Cerberus, as collateral for a bet he never collected. As a bounty hunter, Chase was hired by Dust and Silence to capture Dazzler, who could activate psi-potential in their followers, the New Wave. Chase captured Dazzler but befriended her en route to meet Dust, who had killed and posessed Dazzler's father Carter Blaire. Chase joined Dazzler to defeat him, but Silence used Dazzler's mother, Barbara London, to extort her cooperation. Left behind, Chase and Cerberus, accompained by Dazzler's friend Beast, tracked Dazzler and fought the New Wave while Dazzler overcame Silence, and New Wave member Arthur Smith used his new powers to convince police Dazzler was dead. Months later, Chase pursued mutant drug dealer Vladimir Zaitsev to Flordia, where Zaitsev knocked him out and framed him for the deaths of Zaitsev's employees. Reading of his arrest, Dazzler, now with the X-Men, arrived with her teammate Wolverine, who joined Chase in jail, rescued him from Russian agents pursuing Zaitsev, then freed him. Government operative Henry Peter Gyrich offered amnesty for capturing Zaitsev, whom Gyrich wanted to use as a double agent. Searching the nearby swamplands, Chase and the others were attacked by Zaitsev, who fled after fighting Wolverine and Dazzler but was killed by Cerberus, much to Gyrich's irritation. When the X-Men were reported slain after defeating the Adversary a few weeks later, both Chase and Cerberus mourned for Dazzler's death, unaware the X-Men had survived and relocated to Australia.
