Marinkovich studied science at the University of Western Ontario, graduating with an Honours BSc. in Genetics in 2000.

A self-taught artist, he broke into comics work in 2004 illustrating the graphic novel adaptation to the Sony Pictures film Underworld. He continued work in the franchise with the follow-up miniseries, Underworld – Red in Tooth and Claw, released by IDW publishing the following year.

In 2010 Marinkovich released the critically acclaimed graphic novel Kenk: A Graphic Portrait, a biography on the notorious Toronto bicycle thief, Igor Kenk, who rose to notoriety in 2008 with his arrest and the largest police seizure of stolen bicycles in history.
