Also Credited As:
Maxwell, Jerry

Williams, Jerry

Bio:
Iger was one of the original editors of Wow (or, by its full title, Wow, What a Magazine!) in 1936. Though shortlived, he met a young Will Eisner and soon entered into a partnership with him.

The resulting Eisner & Iger became one of the pre-eminent "comics packagers" of the Depression, selling their output to various publishers.

Though Eisner would leave in 1940, the subsequent S. M. Iger Studio would continue on until 1955. Along the way, he also found time to start Phoenix Features newspaper syndicate, which was perhaps most famous for distributing a Mike Hammer daily.

Iger finally dissolved the studio in 1955, and became art director for Ajax-Farrell Publications, before leaving comics altogether in 1957 for the field of commercial art.
