How to properly identify my comics?

Postby Wehrleybird » Mon Apr 22, 2013 8:15 am

I'm having some trouble verifying which issue I have when it comes to some of my comics from the 90's. I am specifically struggling to properly identify which copies of Batman(1940) #497 I own in regards to which edition they belong to? Any helpful clues would be appreciated.

Whether it has an overlay or not should be easily determined. If it has a UPC bar code, it's a newstand edition. To determine the printing, take note of the colors of the Batman logo. There's also a roman numeral identifying later printings located beneath the cover price on the main cover, but not on the overlay.
