How should I add this one?

Postby prime25 » Sun May 21, 2017 6:42 am

This'll get people pulling their hair out

I was just going to add http://www.comicbookdb.com/title.php?ID=55875 #131 & tried to find when the comic started. So go to DC Thomson website & find that #131 is listed has #52

https://on.readly.com/GB/dc-thomson-och ... c-magazine

It was the Dennis comic from ? 7-8. Epic added #9-38 then became Epic #39 - but that's #118. I've not listed the issue yet because don't know where the high number merge title comes from.

Yeah, this seems to be indeed a tricky one...

I'm not sure if it's necessary to divide the Epic Magazine title into several smaller title runs here in the database. Perhaps the different title incarnations could simply be mentioned in the notes field of the title?

The initial series would have been BeanoMax #1-79, February 2007 - June 2013:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BeanoMAX
[The entry for the title, without any issues added, has already been created here: http://www.comicbookdb.com/title.php?ID=12280]

The following re-launched title, now referred to as Epic Magazine by the publisher, started out as 100% Official Dennis the Menace and Gnasher Megazine #1 (80)-8 (87), July 2013 - February 2014:

http://downthetubes.net/?p=9731
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/beanomax ... 00-419157/

After that there were several small title changes...

I can't think of any convincing suggestions as to how to handle the title/titles, but at least the origin of the double numbering scheme becomes apparent.

Sounds like you should use a combination of the numerical and alphabetical fields to display both numbers, and some thorough title notes explaining the numbering.

What does the indicia state regarding the issue number? If the first issue for example is stated as #1, then input 1 in the numerical field and " [088]" in the alphabetical field. Including the space before the opening bracket. The issue number would then be displayed as: #1 [088].

If the indicia states it's #88, then reverse the above and input 88 in the numerical field, and " [01]" in the alphabetical field so it will display as: #88 [01].

With the numbering that is how I add the Transformers DC HB set where you get the issue number listed after the volume number. I'll check the comic for the listing later on.

The indicia only states the company name nothing else.

I've not added anything on yet. But what if someone searchers for the comic by title EPiC - unless they check the company first.
