What 1970s horror comic book did this story appear in?

Postby NamelessCity » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:25 am

Hello everyone, I remember a horror story in a comic book in the early 1970s...in the story, a witch beat children to death with a whip (maybe a cat-o-nine-tails). The witch may have been the headmaster of a school or orphanage. She was able to enter a large painting in her office by using magic. Does any of this ring a bell? I thought it might have appeared in either The Witching Hour or The Unexpected, but I have never been able to pinpoint an issue. Any help appreciated. Thanks everyone! -Dave

Answered my own question, found it by chance while shopping in Books-a-Million: "World for a Witch," appearing in DC's House of Secrets number 96, Feb/Mar 1972, issue cover art by Bernie Wrightson, story by Jack Oleck, art by Bill Draut. The story was in color in the 1972 comic book but is B/W in the DC Showcase volume 1 of the House of Secrets.
