Comic Conventions

Postby pnova » Tue Nov 22, 2011 4:04 pm

How many people have been to Comic convetions/expos/events?

I was at Leeds Thought Bubble last weekend. 2nd time.

I expect most people based in US have been to the huge shows.

I've only been to medium sized shows, and it's been a long time. For years around here, the shows have been mostly about movie and tv memorabilia with scant, if any, comic books.

I have just been to local small and large shows (the large one here is nothing like the US ones though). My interest in them is waning though as I don't find they have many good deals any more.

There was a free entry on in Newcastle UK last month - or this month.

I've attended NY Comic Con four years in a row (breaking the rhythm last year to attend a couple other conventions going on that same weekend in a different state). Also been to the MoCCA expo at least that many times.

Both are fun experiences visually, a lot of great art and costumes going around. I find I don't buy many actual comics unless it's stuff I haven't seen or can't see at a regular comic book store. More often I either grab the free swag or take lots of pictures of the stuff going on around me :)
