Searching an artist in my collection

Postby Bear78 » Thu Jun 07, 2012 3:15 am

OK, I am going to try and explain this as best as possible. When I try to search an artist and select "only in my collection" the results will not display any compilation listing like a TPB that reprints issues that the artist has worked on.

For example, I try searching Zac Atkinson and select "Only in my collection". The results page only displays 1 item, a Amory Wars comic I have. BUT, if I just look at all the things he has worked on, He has worked on a few Transformers series. These series have been collected in the IDW collections (big HC compilations) which I have in my collection. These HC books are not shown when I do a search of his name in my collection. Is there anyway this can be fixed? The HC listings all have the proper issues listed that are collected in them but the only artists that are listed are the editors and cover artist which I believe is the correct way to list the printing.

Now that I think of it, the IDW collections are not even listed in the list of his work at all.

That is odd. I tried it with a couple of creators, and I was able to find the collected versions when I do the search. What browser are you using?

The only way to "fix" this is to add the missing creator to the collected editions he/she contributed to. Collected editions should have creators listed as well. If a HC or TPB only has the cover artist and editor listed, it could be the indexer's intention to add story entries to it since the creators are different for each:

...and he/she just hasn't gotten around to it yet. Or the indexer added only the bare minimum to the entry and is just being lazy.

Yeah, I think that is the answer. The individual stores should be added with the correct artists for each which would make them show up in searches. That makes sense.

thanks!
