Permission to Link to and Use of Content

Postby sionmowb » Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:22 pm

I'm building a website with checklists and cover checklists for my favorite comics. I'm hoping for permission to link to comicbookdb.com, as well as the use of content, i.e. comic cover images for my cover checklists. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

I was interested in the response as well for my own site...

I had placed a link to ComicBookDB on my front page, and some of the covers that I have on my site have come from this site, but I made sure not to link them directly... instead I save them, add my own template, and put them on my server, etc.

We're generally not worried about people who use it sparingly, but we generally ban people who use it on an institutional basis (i.e. we had torrent sites that were leeching images from us to show what books they were serving). We always treat things on a case by case basis based on how much bandwidth we'd expect to be using, but we try to accommodate people if possible.

Excellent. So if I'm "reading" you right, by me NOT direct linking to your images in your server, you don't have a problem, correct?

Yep, as long as you're not abusing our site, we're fine with it. Naturally that's subject to change, but that's unlikely :)

LOL! Abuse the site? Not after all the time I've spent in it. ;)
Thanks Chris.
