Free Comic Book Day 2010

Postby Indy » Tue Apr 27, 2010 2:08 am

Anyone else have a local comic shop that does something special for FCBD? My LCS has a huge $.50 sale, which last year I got around 200 issues out of it. Also does a double stamp sale which works out to around a 30% discount on everything. I plan on spending a few hundred dollars this weekend :D .

Heavy Ink's a cool place. I've been using it to subscribe to stuff that neither of my LCS's carry (Vertigo, Image, Dynamite and IDW stuff, c'mon guys). I'll have to see about some freebies since I'm gonna be busy this Sat. :/

Didn't do quite as well this year, only ended up picking up 78 $.50 comics. Did end up spending around $200 though, picked up Y: The Last Man hardback editions (not sure what they are called, there are only 3 out now and will be 5 total). The I got a hardback of Kick-Ass and finished it all up by picking up 3 more long drawer boxes.

I hit up the two downtown Seattle comic shops: Zanadu Downtown and Golden Age Collectables. Zanadu was having a buy 2 and get 20% off sale on TPBs, HCs & manga so I picked up the next two volumes of Lone Wolf & Cub that I need, #23 & 24. Golden Age had no special promotions as they are pretty much a tourist trap in the Pike Place Market. I did notice a closeout shelf I'd never seen before and picked up a copy of the Beyond! TPB for $4.99 & the Zemo: Born Better TPB for $3.99. They had some other good deals on that shelf but they will have to wait for the future. Money's pretty thin around here as of late.

Comic shops in Ireland also do a special Irish comicbook day. Atomic diner publishing group organise it (helps that they own the Subcity comic shop franchise).
