Synopsis:
Told in flashback, this story finds the Sage and Groo wandering about in search of food. The first town is rife with apples, but the apples are sacred and the people go hungry...the second town is in the same state, only they revere pigs. As Groo becomes more and more delirious with hunger, the Sage foolishly plants an idea in his mind: to get both apples and pork, he must lead the towns in attacks on their neighbors. He carries this out and food becomes plentiful for both peoples, but the Sage then reveals to his audience that the apples and pork were extremely poisonous, causing all to be horribly ill (especially Groo, who had both). Then the coup de grace: the inn where the Sage is spinning his yarn just served a bountiful meal of apples and pork, sold to them, it is revealed, by a wanderer named Groo. Everyone is taken ill.o step around a corner with the treasure, not knowing that he is followed by far too many Kantor warriors for even Groo to handle. Everyone is obviously about to get a savage beating, which is left to the reader's imagination.

Notes:
The first letter of each word on the ninth page of the story spells out: "This is the hidden message. Mark and Sharman went to see 'Noises Off' at the music center and ate at the Pacific Dining Car."
