Then the girls are forcibly separated for the first time in their lives. Violet is tricked into staying aboard the pirate ship, while Elsa is left behind on land to care for their ailing mothers. Violet becomes confident she's the only one who knows how to find the treasure, hidden at the fabled Devil's Throat. She stages a coup and seizes control of the ship she's been a prisoner on. Meanwhile, Elsa stirs up a little trouble of her own in the pirates' cove, terrorizing a gang of pirates into her employ.
