The Guardians of the Universe announce that Guy Gardner will be the Green Lantern of Earth because of his membership in the Justice League. Hal Jordan is responsible for recruiting, and John Stewart is given duty over Oa.

Guy returns to Earth to announce his prize, but no one believes him. Gnort approaches him asking for partnership.

Even though Gnort says the Guardians gave him a ring two years ago, the Guardians tell Guy they have never before met him and that the matter should be investigated.
