Having recently established Echo Base on Hoth, Luke and Leia journey to Dantooine to acquire supplies for the Rebels' new home. They are temporarily endangered by a thug named Abel, whose bark proves less effective than Luke's lightsaber's bite.

Soon after his brief use of the Force, Luke becomes sensitive to the mental communication of unknown persons on the planet. As their telepathic entreaties become louder, he's drawn into a secluded part of a building to meet with a Force-sensitive group called the "Fairfolk".

He requests that they continue the training Obi-Wan was unable to complete. Unfortunately, he doesn't realize they actually work for the recently-arrived Darth Vader. Watching the first direct clash between Luke and Darth Vader, the Fairfolk suggest that the only way Luke can win is to embrace the Dark Side.
