Flying low to conserve power after his fight with the Mandarin, Iron Man finds himself amidst a Chinese Airbase. He commandeers a plane and heads for home. Elsewhere, Krissy Longfellow leaves Stark Industries late and meets with Harry Key. Jasper Sitwell, thinking she is stealing Stark's patents, gives chase. As Stark sleeps in his autopiloted Chinese plane, it crosses the Yugoslav-Greek border and soldiers shoot it down. The Frankenstein Monster and Children of the Damned find an unconscious Iron Man in the forest and carry him to Castle Frankenstein, hoping he can help save their mistress, Victoria von Frankenstein, captive of the "Other." Iron Man wakes up and seeks to escape but the Children and Monster prevent him. Suddenly Iron Man is felled with ionic energy and the "Other" announces himself as the Dreadknight.
