Synopsis:
An adaptation of Joseph Bayly's influential 1960 novel THE GOSPEL BLIMP, which tells of an evangelization outreach gone awry. Instead of simply sharing Christ's love personally with people, a group of believers wanting to witness on a big scale purchase a blimp similar to Goodyear's and emblazon its sides with Bible verses. They later add a PA system and begin dumping tracts all over the town. When the group hires a slick public relations man, things really descend into a caricature of what Christian evangelizations should be. A message as timely today as it was then.
Notes:
The comic contains a full 32 pages of full-color Al Hartley artwork. The inside cover features an illustrated advertisement for the paperback book of Joseph Bayly's GOSPEL BLIMP. The inside back cover is an advertisement for Spire Books by or about Johnny Cash, Terry Bradshaw, Dale Evans and Anita Bryant, each of whom is pictured. The back cover features the covers to 18 different Spire Comics.
