This first adventure with those adventuring siblings Pete and Tom Brothers finds them in a jungle village assisting their father, a missionary doctor. After getting their mother to safety across crocodile and piranha-infested waters, they assist their father in fending off a rebel guerrilla army (led by an obese, ostentatiously uniformed leader modeled on Idi Amin). An action-packed and suspenseful story.
This comic contains a full 32 pages of finely detailed Hartley artwork (among the best he produced for Spire). The inside back cover features photographs of Hartley at work and sitting with his grandson. Spire Comics had customarily been one-shots, but this issue closes with the following caption: "And don't miss our next exciting issue! Pete and Tom rescue prisoners from a CULT COLONY!" (A story inspired by the November 18, 1978 mass murder/suicide at Jonestown, Guyana.)
