Gotham City has seemingly had its homelessness problem solved for it by some outside force. At the same time, a rash of disappearances is occurring in the criminal underground. Sensing a connection, Batman finds himself captured and broken by a mysterious cult worshipping a religious figure with ties to Gotham as old as the city itself. Just what happens when Batman is finally broken by Deacon Blackfire?
