Letters Column: The Best For You!

A one-shot adaptation of David Wilkerson's inspiring 1963 book THE CROSS AND THE SWITCHBLADE, which tells of his experience as a young pastor from Pennsylvania coming to New York City to share the Gospel with the street gangs. Wilkerson's sincere love and determination eventually wins over the respect and trust of Mau Mau gangleader Nicky Cruz.

Originally published by Spire Comics in 1972. The comic contains a full 32 pages of Al Hartley artwork in full color. The inside cover and back cover feature advertisements for the Christian line of Archie comics that Al Hartley produced in the 1970s. The inside back cover features photographs of Al Hartley presenting the Plan of Salvation. In 1970 THE CROSS AND THE SWITCHBLADE was adapted into a feature film starring Pat Boone as David Wilkerson and a pre-CHIPS Erik Estrada as gangleader Nicky Cruz.
