Princess Ozma sends H.M. Woggle-Bug, T.E.; the Scarecrow, The Tin Woodman, Jack Pumpkinhead, the Saw-Horse, and the Gump as emissaries to the great Outside World.
The complete stories of the 1904-1905 newspaper series tying in with Baum's 1904 novel, _The Marvelous Land of Oz_, appearing in the original format for the first time since it ran in newspapers. Previously, pages had appeared in black and white and at a much reduced (and difficult to read) size in the "Little Known Works of L. Frank Baum" irregular feature in _The Baum Bugle_, in a severely adapted version by Jean Kellogg as _The Visitors from Oz_ (1961) with new illustrations by Dick Martin from Reilly & Lee, the principal Oz publisher; as The Third Book of Oz in an edition from Armstrong State College Press that was alter reprinted with a new cover by Buckethead Enterprises of Oz (which were censored by Martin Williams for racial insensitivity) with illustrations by Eric Shanower, and again as _The Visitors from Oz_ by Hungry Tiger Press, David Maxine's publishing company, uncensored with warnings and the art by Shanower.
The comics portion tells only the highlights of the text story it surrounds.
This collection also contains the complete _Denslow's The Scarecrow and Tin-Man_ comic pages and Denslow's _Billy Bounce_, along with historical articles and additional work by McDougall and Oz illustrator John R. Neill.
The hardcover measures 16.25" wide X 18.25" tall.
