Dagger searches for Cloak. He fled after consuming a murdering madman. She finds her partner in the sewers and tries to convince him to release the criminal. She has enough light to sustain them both, but he would rather feed on the unworthy than expose her to his unrelenting hunger.

Detective O'Rielly visits Father Delgado. She confesses her complicity in Duane Hellman's unnatural disappearance and hopes silver bullets can stop the dark vigilante. Dagger arrives after Brigid's departure and collapses.

Dagger wakes under the watchful eye of Father Delgado. Exhausted, she explains her unique relationship with Cloak, but she passes out again while releasing light knives to find her missing partner.

Cloak wanders into a group of homeless denizens. He extinguishes their fire provoking a fierce attack. Dagger's light knives end the battle by feeding Cloak's hunger and re-igniting the flame.

Detective O'Rielly stakes out the Holy Ghost Church believing it harbors Cloak and Dagger. She sees the priest rush the feverish and unconscious Dagger to the hospital and decides to wait for Cloak inside. A street gang enters the sanctuary looking for valuables to steal, but before she can react, Cloak appears and stops the defilers. Afterwards, Cloak explains to her his struggle against the darkness within. He chooses to fight the hunger and releases Duane Hellman.

At the emergency room, Father Delgado realizes only Cloak can help Dagger.
