Hawkeye attempts to fire a grappling arrow as he falls through a high rise window, but his rope snaps sending him plummeting several stories into a parked car. He awakes in the hospital completely broken. Six weeks later he ditches his wheelchair and heads to his apartment.
On his way inside he witnesses the eviction of his neighbor, Simone. Their mutual landlord, a Russian mafioso named Ivan, has decided to triple the rent on all the tenants.
Clint confronts Ivan in his gambling den and offers him a large sum of money to cover the rent for all the tenants. Ivan declines, stating that he would rather sell the building. Fighting ensues.
Clint makes an escape but is pursued by the mobsters and finds assistance from a dog he fed pizza to. In turn the mobsters kick the dog and throw it into oncoming traffic, who Clint saves and takes to the vet.
At the vet's office Clint finds himself comfronted once again by Ivan and his thugs. Clint beats up said thugs and demands to buy the building outright from Ivan, then sends him to the airport in a cab.
The dog, who Clint claims isn't his, recovers from several injuries. When asked what his name is, the collar reveals "Arrow", to Clint's disapproval.
