Once Gorilla Grodd and Hector Hammond overwhelm Hal Jordan and the Flash, they continue to look for the meteor fragment.

Upon finding the fragment, Grodd attempts to steal all the energy for himself. This results in an explosion. Grodd and the Flash discover that they are intellectually super-advanced, and Hammond and Hal are reduced to drooling behemoths.
