Transporter technology is, this original graphic novel would have us believe, closer than we think. In the year 2052, in fact, Dr. Colin Blakeney makes the initial discovery of matter transportation, and the future briefly looks bright. But the good Doctor is attacked just as the breakthrough is made, and he has time only to activate his new toy.

Geordi La Forge, 300 years in the future, notices a unidentified transporter carrier wave while the Enterprise is involved in important diplomatic negotiations during the height of the Dominion War. He captures the wave and runs it through the ship's transport buffer. Out pops an extremely confused Colin Blakney, whose story confounds everyone on board.

There, at the height of the Dominion War, the Enterprise crew are suddenly faced with an even greater puzzle to solve. Who is this man and why is he claiming to have invented transporter technology 100 years earlier than their history records indicate?

Star Trek: The Next Generation - Forgiveness (2001) OGN HC

Continuity on this story would seem to have been invalidated by the fourth season Enterprise episode, "Deadalus".

Artwork is entirely hand-painted. For a time the book was sufficiently important to DC to warrant an online animated trailer. (This link may be dead at the time you click it, but it existed from late 2001 at least until February 2006).
