Synopsis: Phil Tyson is in trouble. Deep, serious trouble. With cephalopods. Taken mid-shift from his dead-end job at a fast food joint, he finds himself surrounded by a bunch of nasty talking bugs. They claim to be officers of something called the "Vandos Tribunal", and they believe Phil is their greatest enemy, Shogolath.
Fortunately for him, the Ninth Doctor and Rose are on board. The Doctor steps out of nowhere, psychic paper in hand, to offer his services as counsel for the defense. Naturally, this means that Rose grabs his hand and they start runnin' like hell. Through some jiggery-pokery with the Doctor's sonic screwdriver, and Phil's ammonia-filled mop bucket, the trio make their way back to the TARDIS.
Safe, the Doctor explains that you should never take things at face value. Shogalath wasn't a criminal, but one of Vandos' greatest heroes. He led a peaceful revolution against the Vandosian Imperium, an especially corrupt regime. The Vandosians they just escaped from, the Doctor explains, must've been from a remnant sect still loyal to the Imperium. Because he helped rid the cosmos of this sect, Phil, like Shogalath, is a hero of the Vandosian people.
The TARDIS materializes and drops Phil off. He decides to quit his job; maybe there's more he can do with his life than remain "Mr Nobody".
